Cracks is a series of three dimensional works that are an investigation of vulnerability, masculinity, grieving, and trauma around loss and pain. I began conceptualizing this series of works after losing my mother, and in the aftermath of several falling-outs with family and friends in the summer of 2019. The casts were created as part of my residency at Grinnell College in the fall of 2019. Several pieces were then featured in my exhibition at Grinnell’s Museum of Art, on view Jan 24-May 3, 2020.
